An organization for Kurds who escaped from genocide crimes named Eye Organization – for Care Victims Kurdocide – EOCVK. This organization concerns about Kurds who are victims of genocide, and now live in European countries. The organization was established on September 8, 2020 in Helsinki, Finland which works to collect and count victims who are residents in European countries and fled from areas where international prohibited crimes such as genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity were committed. AS the organization’s founders pointed out, the main purpose of this step is to gather details of those crimes, on the words of witnesses and document them.
The history of genocide, war crimes, and international crimes, in the Kurdish areas of Iraq, dates back to early sixties, and particularly it’s ongoing since the first Baathist coup in 1963. Between 1970 and 1991 numerous of international banded crimes in Kurdish areas of Iraq were committed. For instance, the Barzani genocide in 1983 killed 8,000 civilians, in 1988 the Anfal genocide killed nearly about 182000, and in March of 1988 the chemical attack on Halabja killed 5,000 civilians killed. At the same time, dozens of other crimes like an expulsion, and murdering have continued in recent years, especially with ISIS, the first genocide was committed against Yazidi Kurds by ISIS on August 3, 2014. Then, ISIS threats that are continue from 2014 to now forced Kurds Kakayi religious and Kurds Shabak religious to left their areas. For example, the most prominent crime was in 2017 the war crime that was committed by government forces in southern Kirkuk city of Khurmatu, where Kurds escaped from their city and hundreds of their house were destroyed and exploded.
The Eye Organization that is headquarters in Helsinki, Finland has been trying to gather Kurdish refugees who have fled as victims of genocide and lived in Finland and other European countries, during on its first year of establishing. In this context, they documented the words and events of the victims, and they are planning to introduce these tragic stories to the Western world via panels, seminars and conferences.
Huner Hussein, one of the organization founding and directors said that "The largest class that has been neglected is the victims of genocide crimes that now they live in Europe as refugees, including the Kurds, because they are witnesses to the events, crimes and evidence to introduce these crimes to the world" . Regarding their future project, Huner says: "We have established this organization for a year and we have been working in the context, and we are planning to organize seminars and conferences in some parts of Europe for the future."
Meanwhile, LOTTA LIISA, head of the research case and documenting at the Eye Organization said that "Establishing of a special organization for victims of genocide who are now refugees in Europe, especially for the Kurds, who have been facing genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity for 60 years”. At the end of next year, the organization is expected to hold a conference for international crime experts in Brussels, Belgium, and despite inviting experts in that field, witnesses of the victims will present the story of the crimes there with documents. She also mentioned that “During the within one year, of establishing this organization they have been able to discuss with 38 people who are victims of genocide and live in Finland and other European countries to document their statement and events as witnesses. Meanwhile, LOTTA LIISA, in her speech, said that due to the corona virus, we could not do it in a field of activity, but two panels were organized online, a panel on 2021/3/16 in memory of the Halabja chemical attack, in which a number of researchers and victims participated, while another panel commemorating the Anfal crime in 2021/4/14, for a number of survivors... We hope that with the normalization of the situation, we will be able to hold a conference on genocide experts on the issue of documenting these crimes, especially the crimes of the Halabja chemical attack and the Anfal genocide.
